jean-michel basquiat - the radiant child, in my opinion, was the best film i saw in 2010.  we all know about the art, his lifestyle and the drugs.  but like anybody else, there was so much more to this man… for me basquiat has been an incredible source of inspiration.  way before i knew that i was an artist, my mother would take me to the denver art museum every saturday morning.  we’d explore every crevice and i would soak up every ounce of art in that building. around that era my mother *god bless her* introduced me to andy warhol.  i was so captivated by everything andy, through that obsession i came to know and love the works of basquiat.  as i grew into my artistic self, my understanding of his legacy gave me a ton strength and the courage to boldly be me. im so grateful for the life of jean-michel basquiat, and i’m so thankful for people like tamra davis and fab 5 freddy.  they were actually friends of basquiat, and their interpetations of his life and art are so sincere and heart filled, and im just so happy that they are able to share their priceless encounters with the world in this manner. <3
